Ideas In My Sleep

Yesterday when I was trying to sleep, I couldn't stop thinking about these creative things I wanted to do. I regretted the cup of coffee I had because I couldn't get to sleep. But then, the creativity was good. I had spent my evening beforehand researching Impressionist artists, and writing my livejournal and reading in preparation for my English Literature lecture. And by bedtime I was getting in the mood for all sorts of creative works - writing, drawing, and yes, blogging (which explains why I came back here).

I don't know why, but I remembered the words of a guest on the news some weeks ago. She was invited to talk about the new vaccines that were compulsory for babies. And she said, in reply to the question that vaccines may be putting pressure on the babies' immune systems, that babies are exposed to millions of viruses and bacteria every day but don't suffer because of it. "We're only asking for six." Her words were just so simple and logical that I had to think about this.

An idea came to me that I should carry around with me a notebook, so that if a sudden inspiration comes upon me when I'm out on the street, I can write it down for later. The girl who took us for the writing workshop told us that but it didn't catch on because she was telling us to do it; it wasn't our own idea. But now I think I'll take it up. I should get into the habit of constantly looking for inspiration. I had a lot of that last night, but it was too late to stay up any longer. I had to get some sleep. Now I've lost a lot of ideas that I had.

Another idea was to type up my lecture notes on Blogger. That way, the topics of the lecture will be reinforced in my mind through rehearsal and will be harder to forget. I should make that a daily routine.

I have my English Literature lecture at 12:10, in two hours. As I'm not ready yet I should stop writing and make some effort. I plan to read a little more of Paradise Lost.
